Background

BMW models 2021+ G8X M2/M3/M4 equipped with automatic have the ZF 8HP box which is both strong and fast. It is designed to handle the high output of the S58 engine, however a tuned engine can overload the original cooling system, especially during track driving. If the gearbox overheats, you may experience slower shifts and the risk of the gearbox being damaged. To address the temperature issue, do88 has developed an upgrade gearbox cooler to help keep temperatures at a proper level.

Our solution

do88 Transmission Cooler significantly improves cooling efficiency. Our engineers designed a new cell pack for the cooler, increasing the cell pack volume by a whopping 71% and the active cooling area by an impressive 50% while maintaining equivalent pressure drop. We upgraded the tubes to harmonic tubes that have internal channels, providing optimal cooling efficiency. It also increases the cooling capacity of the system with a 42% (8.5 dl vs 6 dl) increase in liquid volume. The do88 cooler uses a Dual-pass design which means the oil passes through the cell pack twice, ensuring more heat is released.

Installation

Installation of the significantly larger do88 Performance Transmission Cooler is simple and requires no modifications (see installation instructions).
